Replacing those old faucets come with a price.
You've just spent over $100 on a brand new designer faucet for the kitchen. You did a great job removing the old one, cleaning-up the area and installing your brand new faucet. Everything looks great. You turn on the water to check for leaks and you don't find any; but wait, the water coming out of the new faucet seems to be less than the old one you just replaced. How is that? You check all the fittings to see if maybe you accidentally got a washer or something where it shouldn't be and it's restricting the water flow. This is all very frustrating and not at all what you had in mind. Here's why:
This nation's water shortage is a REAL water shortage. This is something our government recognized and came up with a solution. Regulations were put in place to restrict the amount of water coming out of your faucets and shower heads; even your toilet! This is accomplished at the manufacturing end of the product. That means when you remove that old faucet built before the restrictions were put in place and replace it with a new faucet, your water flow is RESTRICTED. Years ago there were little plastic "flow restrictors" placed in the line where your faucets connect. They were even included in the packaging. Sinefeld did a whole episode on it! Now these fixtures are produced with the water flow restriction built into the system, and you can't change it. But there is something you can do!
If you can live without the old faucet for a few days, remove it and take it to ALASKA ELECTROPLATING at 828 E 15th and get it re-chromed! If maintaining a good healthy water flow is important to you, then this is a solution that can even cost LESS than replacing it! Depending on the size, it could cost between $35 to $50! Way less than that designer faucet that restricts your water flow. Those guys produce a quality chrome coated product that looks great! It's brand new and you still have that good flow of water!
